In the mid 1970’s, I started refinishing golf clubs as a hobby. In a few short years, the hobby became a small business, not only in this area but for various collectors around the country. Around 1980, I made my first set of “custom-made” golf clubs for my father. They consisted of grips, shafts, and clubheads put together with no consideration of swing characteristics, clubhead speed, swingweight, tempo, grip size, etc.
Soon I wanted to learn as much as I could about custom-fitted golf clubs, so I started to read articles and books on the subject. I attended a week long fitting school at Dynacraft Golf in Newark, Ohio. Next, I took extensive tests to become first, a Professional Clubmaker through the Golf Clubmakers Association, then a certified Class “A” Clubmaker and Clubfitter through the Professional Clubmakers Society. In addition, I am a member of the AGCP (Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals).
As I have gotten older, I am going to stop doing custom fitted golf clubs and concentrate on the golf club repair and the golf simulator. I am proud of the fact I was named Golf Digest Certified Fitter in 2013, 2015 and 2017.
